Chivalry 2 Development Update – February 16, 2021 (Pre-order Q+A)

Well, the chicken’s out of the coop!

Chivalry 2 will launch June 8, 2021 — with the Closed Beta arriving March 26-29. Pre-ordering Chivalry 2 on the Epic Games Store grants you guaranteed access to the Closed Beta on PC.

The Closed Beta will not be under NDA. This makes it the first true public demonstration since Chivalry 2 was playable at our huge PAX East 2020 booth. The Closed Alpha has seen monthly testing rounds since February 2020, but all under NDA (no streams or video sharing allowed).

Our team is so excited to unsheathe our swords, launch the trebuchets and begin our siege path towards launch in June 2021. Stay tuned for many more videos and reveals as we move towards the glorious day of release.

In this developer update we wanted to address some key questions around the pre-order and Beta news.

Where can I pre-order Chivalry 2?

You can pre-purchase Chivalry 2 for PC on the Epic Games Store today:

https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/chivalry-2/home

What are the perks of pre-ordering?

Aside from basking in the knowledge that you’ll have your very own personal copy of Chivalry 2 at launch… Pre-orders of Chivalry 2 on the Epic Games Store will grant you guaranteed access to the Closed Beta on March 26-29.

You’ll also get the following item in-game:

Royal Zweihänder

Cull your enemies with the Royal Zweihänder, a two-handed beast of a weapon. Perfect for when you’re surrounded and ready to go down in a frenzy of bloody glory.

When can I pre-order Chivalry 2 on consoles? Will a console pre-order guarantee me a Beta key?

Stay tuned for more information about console pre-orders and console Closed Beta access.

We announced Chivalry 2’s Beta and release date information as part of the Epic Games Store Spring Showcase – which was a PC-focused event. We’ll be covering console and retail edition info as part of a separate date in the near future.

Will Chivalry 2 be cross-play between PC and consoles during the Beta and at Launch?

Yes, Chivalry 2 will have CrossPlay between PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. All platforms will have the same Closed Beta (March 26-29) and Launch (June 8) dates.

What’s in the Chivalry 2 Special Edition?

The Special Edition contains:

  • Jousting Knight Armor

Take to the tournament grounds in the glorious Jousting Knight armor, available in unique sets for both Mason and Agatha Knights.

  • Royal Broadsword

Wield the legendary Royal Broadsword to show allies and enemies alike who the true leader on the battlefield is.

  • Gold Horseman’s Axe

Cleave heads in style with the Gold Horseman’s Axe, and try not to spoil its intricate metalwork design as you’re doing so!

  • Roses Novelty Item

Express your love for battle with the Roses novelty item, added to your spawn-in inventory

  • 1000 Crowns + 5000 Gold

Receive 1000 Crowns (premium currency) and 5000 Gold (earnable currency), used to unlock new armor, weapon appearances and more!

You can view several of those items and perks in the image below.

You can pre-purchase the Chivalry 2 Special Edition on the Epic Games Store here:

https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/chivalry-2/special-edition

Pre-ordering the Special Edition will also grant you the standard pre-order perks automatically (the Royal Zweihänder and guaranteed Closed Beta access). Aside from that, none of the Special Edition content is tied to pre-ordering; the Special Edition will continue to be sold as-is after launch.

I bought the Standard Edition but I would like to upgrade to the Special Edition, can I do this?

You’ll be able to upgrade to the Special Edition at any time after launch on June 8, 2021. There will be an in-game option to upgrade.

If you can’t wait and would like to upgrade before launch, we suggest you seek a refund of the original purchase and then purchase the Special Edition.

What are the Crowns and Gold in-game currencies?

Crowns (premium currency) and gold (earnable currency) are used to purchase new armor, weapon appearances, and more. Crowns and gold are used specifically for cosmetic purposes and do not impact gameplay. Customization items within the game will be “unlocked” (made available for purchase using Gold earned from playing the game) by levelling up each of the four Classes. However at any time you can purchase cosmetic items outright by using Crowns even if it has not been unlocked.

If you pre-purchase the Special Edition of the game, you’ll receive 1000 Crowns and 5000 Gold.

Will there be other editions?

Just the Standard Edition and Special Edition are planned.
